CORE BARRE is a high energy, low impact, fat burning workout. Its focus is on intensive movements that sculpt the thighs, tone and firms the gluteus, flatten the abdominals and define the arms. Focused and isolated stretching to lengthen, tone and increase joint flexibility compliments a total body workout. CORE BARRE incorporates current biomechanics principles of pilates, ballet and general fitness concepts and it available to all fitness levels for those that safely want to change their appearance and have fun while doing it.

THE SESSION
 
A CORE BARRE class is 55 minutes in length in an energetic group setting. The class starts in the center where we incorporate light weights and some simple movements to increase the heart rate, warm up the muscles and bring mobility to the spine. 
 
The Ballet Barre work focuses on very isolated movements that target the thighs and the seat. These exercises are easy to learn and are also designed to improve coordination, strength and balance. Abdominal work follows- that challenges the muscles of the upper and lower abdominals, in both supine and side lying positions, while promoting stability in the pelvis and lumbo pelvic hip complex. Prone extension exercises promote strengthening the muscles of the mid and lower back while engaging and lengthening the abdominals. The use of proper breath, cueing and modifications are given to promote effective and safe exercise. 
 
Focused stretching encourages flexibility, range of motion and sense of well being. Done on its own or in conjunction with other types of fitness, CORE BARRE will produce excellent results. 
1. First, wait until you receive your living social voucher with a valid voucher number.

3. Check out the schedule and pick a Core Barre to sign up for. Click the "Sign Up Now" button next to your preferred class.

4. Choose "Core Barre" from the drop down menu next to "What Kind of Series or Membership would you like." Then choose the "LIVING SOCIAL Core Barre Promotion- 2 for $25" option.

5. PRESENT YOUR VALID LIVING SOCIAL VOUCHER & CODE AT YOUR FIRST VISIT.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes early. That way you can get settled, get a mat, fill out a waiver for us, and arrange voucher approval.

6. Wear easy to move in athletic clothes. We ask that you go barefoot for the class. If you wear socks, we prefer ones with traction. Bring your own water and towel if needed.

7. Mats and props are provided.  Allow extra time to park. There is plenty of street parking as well as public lots in Old Town, however, extra time will be needed.

8. After your first class, you will be entered into our online system, Mind Body. When you view the class schedule online, you'll notice the option to sign-in ahead of time. Reservations are required for all core barre classes along with a 24 hour cancellation policy.
