Prenatal group classes are limited to 5 women.  We specifically consider the stages of participants’ pregnancy when designing the classes.  We utilize all the classical Pilates apparatus in class including the Chair, Reformer, and Tower to give you a great workout that will be challenging and invigorating.  In conjunction with strength-building exercises, we will perform many deep stretches in order to release tension and also balance your workout so that you don't over-do it!  This is also a great way to meet women who are also going through the joy of pregnancy!

Classes meet once a week for six weeks - $180

Tuesdays 6:30pm

Saturdays 9:00am

(Drop-Ins welcome for $35 - Reservation Required)

Postnatal Group Classes

We want to help you get back into shape!  But we also want to consider the amazing feat that your body just accomplished AND the fact that you are probably exhausted taking care of an infant.  We'll help you "find your abs" again and engage muscles that were stretched and taxed during pregnancy.  We want to challenge you in class but leave you feeling invigorated as well.  You'll also love the opportunity to meet with other new moms and share tips/advice!!  Infants are welcome in strollers or car seats.

The Prenatal Body

Amazing changes are constantly taking place in the pregnant woman's body.  It is important, when exercising, to take these changes into consideration.  We work to maintain the muscle tone of all pregnant clients, taking focus off the abdominal muscles in order to let them stretch to accommodate your baby.  Instead we focus on supporting muscles in the hips, legs, buttocks and back to support your baby and keep you healthy and strong all pregnancy long!  As your baby grows, important postural changes take place.  The pelvis tilts forward which causes most pregnant women to become very tight in their hip flexors.  We take care to stretch these tight areas on all pregnant women to keep you supple and strong!  We work to strengthen and engage the pelvic floor in preparation for childbirth.  It's also important to address deep breathing when pregnant, both to relax and to prepare the body for labor and delivery.

The Postnatal Body

The postnatal body has just completed the unbelievable task of bringing a baby into the world and needs to be addressed with compassion and care.  We work to heal you from the inside out focusing on tightening up your abdominal muscles and helping you "find your waist" again!  Each postnatal body is unique and we pride ourselves on customizing our lessons based on your body and how it's recovering from giving birth.  Most postnatal women tend to round their shoulders forward in feeding, nursing, or caring for their infants so we spend time opening up your chest and strengthening your back muscles to help prevent a sore back.  We work at your pace to get you back in shape so that you feel fit, strong, and beautiful while also taking the time to stretch your body and address any posture changes so that you can be at your best.

TESTIMONIALS

"I had the pleasure of doing pilates with Katie throughout my entire pregnancy. I found Katie extremely knowledgeable about the different ways my body was changing during pregnancy, and she modified my workout every week based on my progress. It was fascinating to hear her explain how muscles I didn't even know about were changing. She was diligent about asking what felt good, and what was too much, and I never felt like I was pushing myself too hard. Continuing to do pilates throughout my pregnancy helped me feel strong and flexible. It was also a comfort to know I was doing something good for my baby. No matter how tired I might have felt on a particular day, I always looked forward to spending an hour with Katie. She is a wonderfully positive, warm, and encouraging instructor, and I would recommend her to anyone!"

"I have felt so much better throughout this pregnancy thanks to Katie's prenatal pilates class! I have more energy, more flexibility, and look forward to class every week. Katie does a great job of tailoring the class to her students' needs and makes it fun. I'm totally looking forward to postnatal pilates once my baby's born!"

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Katie and her pre and post-natal Pilates classes! I worked with Katie through my entire pregnancy and truly believe that is the reason I did not experience any of the typical pregnancy discomforts, like lower back pain. In her pre-natal classes, she worked with us on posture, stretches and breathing to help manage the physical effects of pregnancy while still giving us a Pilates workout that made us sweat. She taught breathing and small abdominal exercises that I was able start while still in the hospital after delivery and they definitely sped my healing and recovery process. Her post-natal workouts are helping me gently and safely regain my core strength and have gone a long way to help me drop the “baby weight.”
